NICEVILLE - Just like they had in the short pentathlon meet two weeks ago, Fort Walton Beach’s Logan Griffith and Niceville’s Ross Spock won the long pentathlon meet on Wednesday at Bluewater Bay.
Griffith finished more than 11 seconds ahead of runner-up Elvira Chiccarelli, also of Fort Walton Beach. Cheryl Corvo was third, followed by the Niceville duo of Shelby Baumgartner and Lindy Peek to round out the top five. The Eagles placed two others in the top 10 as well, with Devon Caulkins taking sixth and Emily Voigt placing eighth. Choctaw had the other three top-10 finishers in Megan Whitehurst (7th), Chel-sea Arsenault (9th) and Leigha Costello (10th).
On the boys’ side, Spock outdistanced second place by just under 13 seconds. Teammate Ross Roberts was second, while Choctaw’s Alex Strom, Niceville’s Travis Thornton and FWB’s Matt Schade rounded out the top five. The Vikings placed four others in the top 10 in Josh Williams (6th), Blake Gladstone (8th), David Stevens (9th) and James Simmons (10th). Choctaw’s Eric Dziokonski was seventh.
